Shan Kuang was born to a working class (meaning sorta poor) family in Xing. They raised crops for the emperor, and before she could work Shan was the type of girl who ran around with the boys. She'd push them down, play ball, chase and tease them as if she was a boy herself...no, better than a boy. Despite her upbringing, she held a lot of pride in herself, much unlike her timid and obedient parents. She was the sort of child that always asked why, and seemed to have a mind of her own from a very young age. When she was old enough to work, she would often gripe, wishing to be somewhere else. She would say she wanted to see the world and get out of Xing, to travel and meet people unlike her. Her entire existence was a cage keeping her there it seemed. Things didn't get better. When her family's crops fell victim toan insect problem, the Emperor was going to properly punish the family with death, but her father offered his daughter to the Emperor as a concubine, when she was old enough. To this, the Emperor agreed, and from that point Shan was raised to impress him when she became his. As one can imagine, she was less than happy about this situation, often speaking out against the government and how the country was run until her parents would shush her and send her to work. They would keep her inside, away from the boys who were growing and becoming interested in Shan for reasons more than playing ball in the yard. Since she was stuck inside, she would often watch her mother, who was a doctor of sorts, work on people, and would read alkahestry books in her spare time. Fighting with the boys for years had made her skilled at the martial arts they'd learned, though her technique was always a little raw and rougher than those trained. But she always proclaimed that she was unstoppable, a constant fire burning within her. The former emperor passed, and a new one Ling was recently put in his place. Pleased that this was a younger, more hopeful master for their daughter, they prepared her to become his, wanting to carry over the promise. They brought her to the palace and left her there, and she stayed only for one month until "mysteriously" disappearing. Shan ran away, crossing the desert on her own (with much trouble) and coming to Amestris. Now, adapted to the culture half a year later, she is living out her dreams, traveling about the country and hoping no one from her homeland finds her... for her punishment would surely be death, FACE CLAIM.
