Edward was born on February 3, 1899. More than a year later, his younger brother Alphonse was born. Edward disliked Alphonse when the two were young, but he grew to love his brother as the years passed, especially after his father talked to him. The brothers were also close with their neighbor's daughter, Winry. At four, however, their father left. Neither Edward nor Alphonse spoke to or even saw their father often, but Ed grew to resent his father because of how upset his departure made their mother. He carried the resentment with him into his teens. To cheer up their mother, Edward and Alphonse began to teach themselves alchemy. This made her very happy, because it reminded her of her husband, and she was very proud of her boys until the day she died. The brothers, devastated by the loss of their mother, decided to try and find a way to bring her back. They found a teacher, Izumi Curtis, who taught them everything she knew about alchemy (whilst keeping a few secrets.) A few years later, the two tried to bring their mother back to life. It failed, and with tragic consequences. Als' body was taken, as was Ed's left leg. In order to bring back his brother's soul and attach it to a suit of armor, Ed also gave up his right arm. He was left bloody and hardly alive, and Al hurried him to the Rockbell's house as soon as he could. After a month or so of recovery, Ed made the decision to get automail. And after a year, he was back on his feet. While he was recovering, Roy Mustang came to Resembool because of a mixup, and convinced Ed to join the military, a path that Ed decided to follow. He made it in as a State Alchemist, and was given the title of Fullmetal Alchemist. He and Al set out on a long journey with the sole purpose of getting their bodies back to normal. After making many enemies, and many friends, they achieved their goal. Ed still has his automail leg, but he doesn't mind. Most of all, he wanted Al back to normal, and he sacrificed his alchemy to get him back. After recovering in Central for a while, the two headed back to Resembool. Ed and Al plan to travel the world and learn all they can about alchemy so that they can save people, and help people. Ed plans on traveling to the west in a few months. Meanwhile, the brothers are staying with Winry and Pinako. Ed, although he'll never admit it and hasn't quite realized it yet, has fallen for Winry. FACE CLAIM. Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist ROLEPLAY SAMPLE. CLAP! Edward slammed his hands onto the screen door. Nothing happened, of course, so he removed his hands and went back to fixing the door he had accidentally broken the other day. He gritted his teeth when he managed to nick his finger, and brought the bleeding appendage up to his mouth. He would give up his alchemy and a thousand more things so that Al could have his body back, but goddammit he still hated fixing things by hand. He wondered, not for the first time, why Al couldn’t fix it. It wasn’t as though he was doing anything important; in fact, he was doing absolutely nothing. He was staring. At Ed’s back. Ed swore he could feel the smirk on his brother’s face. Damn Winry and her ‘you need to grow accustomed to doing things the normal way, Edward.’ He let out a yelp as the screen door crashed on his already injured finger. He could hear Al snickering from behind him. “Wipe that smirk off your face or I’ll do it for you,” he muttered, staring forlornly at his finger.
