As you may know, right now there's a hurricane that's due to hit the east coast of the US like tomorrow. Guess who lives directly in the path? That's right; me! What's more, I live like two blocks from a river, and eight miles from the actual shore. I'm hoping that North Carolina pretty much kills it, as that's what usually happens with hurricanes like this.
Buut on the off chance that it is like the one 100 or 125 years ago (in which, I think 10 people and then 180+ people from my state alone died), I'm heading up to my dad's which is farther away from the shore and also farther out of the path. Hopefully.
I know I haven't been the most active person ever (my muse has been stupid, sorry), but I'll try to get at least one reply up tomorrow. I'm not sure when I'll be back, and they're saying that it's going to cause mass power outages, which is obviously not good.
I mean, they just did a mandatory evacuation of a town about a half hour to the south of me, and they just sent all the tourists home from the entire state here today, so... better safe than sorry and all that.
(also, as I tried to explain that the last massively deadly hurricane in this state was 100+ years ago to someone on facebook, someone else asked "How do they even know that it killed ten people a hundred years ago?". What. Like. Seriously. What.)
tl;dr: Hurricane apparently headed this way; going to my dad's (dial-up); probably going to be power outtages, etc. etc.

Well, apparently the only thing that was damaged was... y'know, everything in the one room I thought would be safe (my study), which is where most of my collectibles were (I don't even want to think about my Harry Potter stuff ;~~; ) I haven't inspected the damage in my room, and, from the sounds of it, neither has my mother (I didn't expect her to so much as glance upstairs, and she wouldn't have if the ceiling in the living room below the study hadn't leaked). I'm still at my dad's until at least Tuesday afternoon, probably evening. I'm going to try to get the Becky going into Central Command thread up, but my cat's here, and, unlike if I were at my mum's, I'm the one responsible for him, so I get to do all of that unpleasantness that I usually manage to avoid today. Over here, there's no flooding, no interior damage (we probably lost some shingles, but my dad's a contractor, so I'm not worried about that), and we never lost our water or power (though the tivo screwed up while recording FMA:B because the wind and rain were really bad starting at about 1.15) From the sounds of it, my mum's house still has power and that one room is the only damage (oh my god, all of my notebooks were in that room ;~~ Oh, but my dad was trying to pop my Ed action figure's arm off so I could put his automail arm, and the ball broke in the socket. So I now have an Ed, who, get this, is missing the WRONG ARM. -_-' But it could be worse, so....
