Blunt, insensitive, prideful and cynical are the first personality traits that most people will notice when they first meet Jin Yi, and that's only assuming he doesn't happen to be pick pocketing or otherwise stealing from them. Forced to fend for himself for the last year or two as a result of a handful of poorly thought out choices, Jin Yi does whatever serves in his own self interests, although he'll attempt to avoid stepping on others when possible. For those who tolerate the boy long enough to get to know him, though, they'll find that he's of much more noble spirit than his initial attitude and actions initially suggest. While his pride is often the cause of his stubborn and unyielding nature, even when he'd be better served by backing down or otherwise finding an alternative route or solution, it is also one of the driving factors behind the moral code that Jin forces himself to follow. Should he ever see someone involved in a fight that they are losing or that he believes is morally justified he will not hesitate to step in and lend aid, and while he sees theft as ocassionally necessary, he detests himself for having to stoop so low as to steal and would never be caught dead taking from someone worse off than himself. Loyal to a fault should he respect someone or give his word, also a result of his pride, Jin proves that one should never judge a book by its cover. Friends:To be perfectly honest, Jin Yi needs these, and plenty of them. Having spent most of his time in Amestris on the move and having never stayed in any one place long enough to truly get to know anyone (or having driven people off before they could get to know him), Jin has a grand total of zero friends in the foreign country, and has no intention of going back to Xing. Earning his respect or admiration isn't exactly easy, either - for Jin, actions speak louder than words ever will, and until you actually do something to back up what you say, he'll just view you as one of the hundreds of self important drones he sees every day. Once you do earn his respect, admiration or above all, loyalty, you will be hard pressed to find someone who is more devoted to their friends - should one ever need anything from him, they would merely need ask and he would be there in an instant, and should one of his friends ever find themselves in trouble, asking wouldn't even be necessary. Enemies:These, however, Jin is likely to have plenty of, be it the kind with which he merely bickers with or those people who would wish to see him harmed or otherwise inconvenienced. While he is generally considered to be extremely reliable as a courier or handyman for repairs or other odd jobs, the fact that he's stolen and pickpocketed hasn't earned him any friends, regardless of how much he detests and regrets those actions. There are any number of people who would like to see him caught or otherwise harmed, and at this point the local law enforcement agencies of many of the towns in eastern Amestris have long since lost patience with him. So far, though, no one has had any luck catching him. Romance:For all of his faults and pride, though, Jin is still human, and on top of that one beginning to enter puberty, albeit a little later than most. As much as he tries not to, he is beginning to notice certain differences between himself and the opposite gender, and frankly, it infuriates him - he does not like the idea of not being able to completely control how he thinks or where his attention is directed when he allows his mind to wander, nor the fact that his body is changing faster than he can keep up with it. While he is familiar with the idea of two people being attracted to each other, though, Jin is still surprisingly naive despite all of his intelligence and street smarts. It would take a good deal of effort, just as befriending him would, and he would not like the idea of being so attached to a person to begin with, but should someone actually become important to him as more than a friend they would few more loyal than Jin - this would be several steps up from being merely a friend, and even then Jin is incredibly devoted to those he respects. Other:Fairly well aware that the above categories don't exactly cover everything, so if you have any ideas that don't clearly fit with what I mentioned above, don't hesitate to ask or speak up! I'm fairly flexible with my plottage, so if you have an idea and it's anywhere near remotely workable, I'd be glad to hear it and attempt to work it in!

-raises hand- Ooh, I would love to plot something out with you~! C:
Considering that Mei actually does tend to run off to Amestris whenever she can escape from her stupid Clan Elders, I can see the two of them running into each other eventually though I dunno where. Perhaps Jin attempts to pickpocket her, and gets attacked by a savage Xiao Mei/angry ninja princess?
Either way, it would be quite interesting to see these two get along, especially because I can see Jin reminding Mei of Edward, at least initially. Plus, considering that Mei kind of looks young, he might think of her as a little bratty half-pint. XD Honestly, I'd love to do anything. C:

Ah yes, I could see some funsies here too. Also, don't worry about where they'd run into each other - Jin's more or less floating around the eastern section of Amestris at random, so it'd be entirely possible for them to bump into each other. XD
I'm not sure he'd pickpocket Mei (because of the whole pride thing and her general appearance as you said - he doesn't steal from kids), but I could easily see him snatching someone else's belongings and her getting pissed off at him for it, and I'm willing to bet things would just spiral out of control from there (I mean come on - she went out of her way to help someone as badass as Scar, so she'd more than likely stop to help some random stranger). That, and he'd be extremely interested in her alchehestry if she actually used it - Jin himself has been trying to pick up alchemy since arriving in Amestris as a way to actually earn his keep rather than stealing, so I'm interested in seeing how that plays out. Even better is that I've spoken to Al's player and have a plot planned out along those lines for when she isn't posting in so many threads at once, so maybe there's a way to tie the two together?

Ooh, true true~. I can totally see her noticing it (or Xiao-Mei noticing and pointing it out to her), and then totally flipping out on him. Ah, if she ended up using it in the fight, and Jin wanted to learn from her, I can definitely see her being willing to teach him (once he returned the person's belongings, of course), especially once she learned his reasoning behind learning.
And ooh, what're you and Helle doing? I would love to be able to tie the two together if we can~! C:

And ooh, what're you and Helle doing? I would love to be able to tie the two together if we can~! C: Al is going to help him with his alchemy. We haven't quite sorted out how they're going to meet. Perhaps this is how they meet?

^^^^ Whut Helle said, so I could very well see both plots tying into each other - Jin is far from stupid (he's frighteningly intelligent given a lack of formal education, actually), but given the life he's had up to this point it's had very little reason to show, and he hasn't actually been pushed to his limits intellectually. He'd relish actually being forced to think, and would jump at the chance to learn both Amestrian alchemy and Xingese alchehestry at the same time.

Ah, that'd be fun, then~! Al and Mei hanging out, Mei sees Jin steal something, attacks, and it all goes downhill from there? Honestly, I love the idea of both Al and Mei teaching Jin, especially seeing as he's quite intelligent as no one wants a stupid student. Totally up for this!^^

Nice! Assuming Helle likes the idea (which she seems to), when and where would we start things off? Helle said she's already got a number of threads going with Al and we should wait until she's done, but that doesn't mean we can't figure out when and where things would happen.
Jin's already spent the last year or so attempting to self school himself in at least conventional chemistry, too, so he's already go that down - it's more just the actual process of transmuting he needs to learn, as well as the tenants and more advanced points of both fields. XD

For where? Honestly, there are quite a few options, and it could be more conducive to say where not. Definitely not in the West, because that'd be the complete other side of the country from where Al and Mei are at, and most likely not Central, unless I can think of a diplomatic reason for Mei to maybe contact the Fuhrer or something... Hm, that could be a solid idea. Most likely, honestly, in the east, maybe with Mei heading back home and Al escorting her, the above idea maybe in Central, or we could do something in the North or South. :/ I just honestly can't think of a reason for Al and Mei to be in either of the latter.
As for when... Well, I'd have to say most likely after the thread that Helle and I have going with Al and Mei in Resembool, and before/round noon-ish. -shrugs- I really don't think there's much that we can debate about the 'when', honestly.
And ooh, a ready learner~! This thread'll be so much fun! >w<

{Abby&&Jin} Sooo...I'm not entirely sure where they would meet. >.> But I do think it would be absolutely hilarious. XD They would definitely get on each other's nerves, and Abby wouldn't exactly go overly easy on him just because he's a year younger than her (something she's probably throw in his face a few times). She wouldn't exactly hate him, but I think they'd make good frienemies. ^.^ If we can figure out how the two of them meet anyway. XD And if push comes to shove, we could just say that Abby got dragged into some family vacation of something. =3
