To be completely honest I'm up for just about anything - apart from the above specifics he'd be your character to take and make your own, alchehestry style and skill level included (he's had 5 years to learn and develop his own style, so go nuts.... within reason, anyways). Whether he's the genuinely caring older brother who intended to go back for Jin when he could, the selfish type who left on his own when the chance presented itself, or anything in between, plenty of plot ideas should be able to rather easily present themselves right from the start.
The only thing I ask is that if you do intend to pick him up as a character, make sure you can stay active with him - and by "active" I mean an optimum of 2 to 3 posts a week if not more if possible, although I'd be willing to settle for at least one post a week so long as you're consistant. I've requested characters before in the past only to have the player disappear in the middle of plots in the past, so this is more of a courtesy thing than anything else - if something comes up and you can't post or find the time to do so, no problem, just please make sure to let whoever you're RPing with know ahead of time.
