First and foremost, it should be mentioned that Abagail's family is a rather old one. This being said, they have their own unique naming system, making Abagail the only one left carrying the name of 'Wolfsong'. Not that she really feels any weight from that at all, to her its just a name. The naming system itself may seem odd, but its worked for the family for generations, and so it has not changed. Its simple really (for those within the family). There are three possible last names that are assigned to children born into the family, the father does not automatically pass along his last name to his wife nor his children, though children temporarily adopt the father's last name until their personality comes through enough to properly determine their last name. The names are: Foxheart, Wolfsong, and Darkart. Foxheart is a name passed along to children who exhibit qualities such as cunning, wisdom, and a calm and collected demeanor. Wolfsong is for the people who seem to be a little more on the wild side, being that they are literally close to nature, or just reckless and clumsy. It could be very pronounced, or not. The third name is a name that is not given when the child develops the personality however. It can be given at any age, because 'Darkart' is the traditional name that tells everyone who knows this naming system that that person has done something that the head of the family viewed as treacherous. Something along the lines of a betrayal, but it really could be as simple as having endangered the lives of their immediate family members. The people bearing this name are normally outcasts, they are still family. Abagail is the youngest member of this family, which really just consists of four sisters (counting Abby). There was once also a brother amongst the siblings, but he went psycho a long time ago after being in the military for about a year or so and so he is no longer living. Abagail grew up with the sister directly older to her, Kaya Foxheart. When they were young, they were both bubbly, energetic children, as all children should be; but Kaya was always the more logical and intelligent of the two. Kaya was given her name at the age of six, and Abagail when she was that age as well. And even though Kagura and Zakuro, the two older sisters, both bore the last name 'Darkart', they were still provided with a roof over their heads and food on the table by their parents. It just wasn't the same roof. It was a few years after Abagail was named that everyone's lives were changed, it a very scarring way. As war, like in most families, disrupted their peaceful existence. Abagail's personality change was among the most dramatic, as she became equivalent lightning, you never knew where she was going to strike or when. After the death of their parents, she became a little spitfire, and hasn't looked back since. Because they were orphans, and too young to look after themselves, they were put in the custody of their eldest sister, Zakuro Darkart, who lied about her age in order to have legal custody of her younger sisters, and keep the family together and out of the foster care system. Because of the chaos of the time, it was overlooked. Abagail grew up hating the military, but once Zakuro signed up as an alchemist, she started to be -- albeit, reluctantly -- more accepting of them. For her sister's sake. The second oldest, Kagura Darkart, did most of the at home care for the family. It was almost like a messed family reality TV show, Zakuro bringing home the paycheck, and Kagura playing the role of the spirited and somewhat temperamental housewife. It seemed like just one chaotic event after another, especially with the way Kagura and Abagail's personalities clashed all the time. After years of putting up with each other, they've developed a bond much thicker than normal siblings. Siblings who went through the loss of even one parent, and worked together to pick up the slack, always seemed to have this inexplicably tighter bond. She shared that with her sisters, even though she really only showed it when they got into fights as a family -- Kagura and her in particular. Now that Abagail and Kaya are old enough to begin working, they are counting down the days until they are able to move out on their own. Abagail has and always will boast about not being to leave, but truth be told she's been living with these people, just her and them, for about six years or so. It will probably end up being a tearful day when the family finally breaks up and lives in their own separate homes. FACE CLAIM. Okamisan and her Seven Companions & Ryouko Ookami ROLEPLAY SAMPLE. This place was.... Beautiful.... As Kagura looked around, that was all she could think of it. The ocean sparkled under the bright sun, and sunken ship aside it was quite gorgeous. This is where that romantic spot is right? What was the name again...? Kagura probably strained herself more than what was necessary most people would say they couldn't remember and move on. But it seemed that her resilience transferred to her stubbornness, even concerning the smallest most seemingly insignificant matters. "Oh! That's right!" |
She exclaimed, clapping her hands together in excitement at the same time. She didn't really care whether or not anyone heard her, though her voice didn't really carry very far. "It was called the Moon Turret!" She was proud of herself for remembering, but suddenly started glancing around her everywhere. She was making herself look absolutely insane, talking to herself. "Oh well," she sighed, "can't be helped I guess...." It wasn't like she had anyone else to talk to. Unlike Zakuro, who had Monderno, Kagura didn't have a traveling companion. She never had the hear to actually attempt to catch an animal, nor to allow an innocent animal into the chaos that was her life.
No.
She could not drag innocence into this, not people and not animals. She may not be exactly spiritual or particularly religious, and she may have lost almost all of her faith in humanity, but she still recognized when other people needed to protected, and did her best to do so. Either from a demon, or from herself. Not that she was any direct threat to a person, but her life had its own demons she needed to worry about. She didn't think she'd capable of splitting her focus to constantly be protecting a traveling companion. Kagura was powerful, but she was no Zakuro.
Kagura sighed, now suddenly quite depressed, and walked over to the beach area of the Ryoshima Coast, sitting down on the sand. She wasn't particularly nit-picky about her clothes getting a little dirty, because she always made sure to wash up at night and in the morning. She was a woman after all, cleanliness was important to her.[/div]
