Knows how to keep a house, how to be a mother, can hit really hard HISTORY. Minna Bradley was born Minna Keller, to two loving parents. She was the youngest child born into her family, and grew up with two older brothers. Naturally, though she relied on them very much, they pushed her around, and she learned to defend herself (sort of), and gained quite the temper. Her early years were fairly unremarkable, as she went to school, made friends, dated occasionally… In short, she was the average citizen, aside from the occasional outburst of temper. It was when she decided to become a secretary for the Military that her life began to change. A few years after she had begun to work, a fairly new member of the military, whom she later learned was named King Bradley, hit on her, in a fairly narcissistic way. Minna, of course, smacked him, and, for him at least, it was love at first hit. He courted her, tried everything to get into her good graces, and slowly, but surely, became her very best friend, the one to turn to when her mother died and she needed a shoulder to cry on, and then the man that she loved. They were very slow, the both of them, and Minna had long been an aunt by the time the two of them got married at the age of 33. Still, she was happily in love, and her whole family liked King and had long since adopted him, since he had no family of his own. And at first, it seemed there would be no problem with their marriage. The two were completely head over heels for each other, everyone could see it, but they hit a bump in the road at one very important point: Children. As it turned out, though neither had been aware, King was completely sterile, and the two of them would never be able to have children together. It took weeks of crying into her pillow, and comfort from her family, to come to terms with the fact that she would never be a mother. It helped that King was there to comfort her, and that she’d always have her nieces and nephews, but… It was a shattered dream. So for years, she and King lived completely in love, even with that stain on their otherwise perfect marriage. The two just didn’t have marital strife, simply because they were quite good at working things out with each other, and there was little that they would disagree on, anyway. Minna remained proud of her bread-winner husband as he advanced up the ranks and became Fuhrer, and was content with her life, especially once she received some grand-nieces and nephews. Yes, content, but not overly happy. And then, when she was 53 years old, almost 54, King began to become more… secretive. He would often have long phone discussions, and go off for quite awhile without telling her where he had been, and it worried her. Most wives would’ve been worried about the possibility of him cheating, perhaps, but Minna simply worried that something was wrong in the military. She received her answer, however, when King gave her the most wonderful present he could’ve on her birthday: A son. It turned out that he had found out he had family, however distant, and that the last adults of said family had died quite a few years ago, leaving their only son, Selim, to go into an orphanage. Naturally, King had adopted the boy, and she had a son. It was the second happiest day of her life, the first being the day she got married, and so Minna Bradley became a mother. Selim fit seamlessly into their household, like he had been here from the start and was blood-related to both of them, and the woman couldn’t be happier. For three years, three wonderful, glorious years, they lived this life, a life of contentment and family. Then… it all went downhill. On a very steep incline. King and Selim were spending more time away from home. Minna was kidnapped – kidnapped – by members of King’s own military, who wanted to take over it and kill her husband. And then she found out her husband was dead, but no, he wasn’t, and it was a whirlwind for her, with the woman barely understanding what was going on. It was like she was thrown right into the middle of the third movie in a trilogy; everyone else knew what was going on, but she hadn’t even seen the first two. It was maddening, and for a woman of fifty-seven, absolutely exhausting and traumatizing. Much as she is friends with those people today, she won’t forget that time, of being kidnapped and helpless. She was still helpless, and felt that way, and then Edward Elric, a sweet boy, she had liked him and his brother, had presented her with the most horrifying news imaginable: Her little boy, her sweet, sweet Selim, was now an infant Homunculus. And her King? Her beloved husband? Gone. One moment, she had everything, family, friendship, companionship, love… And the next, the two most important things to her had vanished. Of course, Minna didn’t blame them, though she dearly wanted to know who killed her King and give him a piece of her mind, and so she picked herself up and moved on. She would raise her son, make him proud of his father and who he was, and she would prove why she was both a Keller and a Bradley: She was strong. FACE CLAIM. Mrs. Bradley from Fullmetal Alchemist ROLEPLAY SAMPLE. Minna sighed, a slight smile on her face as she watched her son toddle slowly around, his hand always on furniture for support. She loved him, she really did, but he was such a handful… Most new mothers probably felt the exact same way she did, the widow reflected, though she was definitely above the average age for mothering. Her child, her wonderful, adorable, beautiful Selim, who hadn’t been Selim at all, was now so young, and here she was, fifty-eight years old, and raising her toddler. All alone. Sadness clouded her eyes, slightly, as she reflected on her beloved King, before she was alerted by the happy sounds coming out of her son’s mouth that he had found one of his favorite toys, a little top that had belonged to Minna when she was a child. Oh dear, she had to supervise him with that, didn’t she? Though the woman always let her son play with her old toys (in fact, unless they were gifts, that was where almost all of his toys came from), some of them, like the top, had sharper parts, so she had to watch him with them… Feeling as if she had gained a few years just by sitting in the chair, Minna pushed herself out of it, standing to walk over to play with her young son. She wasn’t getting any younger, but she didn’t need to. After all, she was always surrounded by the younglings. MY NAME IS VIET AND I'VE BEEN BREATHING AIR FOR 16 YEARS.
